Mild Revelation

I genuinely thought the act of making the promise would imbue me with the attributes necessary to uphold it.  I made the promise because I wanted to keep it, and I believed that making it would render me capable of keeping it.  I was, of course, wrong.  One must first acquire the necessary abilities, and disposition, before offering his word.  Yet another self-centred, self-serving fallacy I held to, believing I was serving another.  I am a fool.
